A portrait of my daughter every week of 2014.

Sleep. How it evades us. We’re nearing ten months of night-time nursing…and yet I get to wake up next to this sweet face each morning. It’s all worth it. Lucy’s cutting one of her canine teeth, which means she’s struggling with sleep even more. We ended up putting her in her cars eat last night and driving around our neighborhood in hopes the car and movement would lull her to sleep. It didn’t work. Of course.

We finally laid our tired baby in her bed at 10:00 pm. Almost three hours past her bedtime. Lucy was tired. Ryan was tired. I was tired. I tell myself that this season passes quickly. I tell myself that never again will I be “wanted” this much. And I watch her sleep…when she finally does…and all the frustration and exhaustion melts away.

that sweet beautiful face!!! I heard someone share last week that parenthood could be summed up by saying “long days, short years” – profound. sigh. These days are fleeting…and you are savoring every morsel…life is beautiful even when it’s exhausting <3

It’s amazing how all the stress and anxiety of getting them to sleep disappears as soon as they’re actually asleep, and that’s when you want to hold and cuddle them – even though it’s likely what you were longing to stop doing before!

Such a sweet photo, Monet. The time does go by quickly, and I never minded getting up to nurse [though the girls were both sleeping through the night by 6 weeks or so] – now I am really getting anxious to see grandchild #3, due in 6 weeks. 😉

She is beautiful. I can’t imagine how exhausted you all are, and hope this season does pass quickly so you can all get rested up again. XO

She is beautiful; they are so angelic when they are sleeping, you’d never know they were such a whirlwind of activity and curiosity when awake!

Lack of sleep can be so trying, can’t it? But you have such a beautiful reason for not sleeping! Lucy will get over these soon, I’m sure, and then you can all get some rest!
